Today we went back to the registration office for the finalization of the adoption. We were presented with an official certificate that says Ana is my child. Yesterday I was just her guardian. While waiting, Ana played in the little play area with a bouncy pony. It is amazing to see how she just figures things out for herself. The pony was situated so she couldn’t get on but she problem solved and did it! We then went to the notary office to notarize the certificate. We got back to the hotel about noon with only enough time to feed Ana and pack a bag to go to Hebi City. We went by van to the city where Ana is from, Hebi, to apply for her passport. Two hours later we arrived at the police station. We were then able to visit the orphanage where Ana is from. We met one of the Nannies, a couple of her friends, and the doctor. The Nanny went to hold Ana for a picture and she didn’t want to leave my arms!! Good sign, right? Maria was able to get some nice video of Hebi City while we were driving around for Ana to have when she gets older to know a little bit more about her birth city. After this, we headed back to Zhengzhou with another 2 hour drive ahead of us. Amazingly, Ana slept the entire time there and almost the entire time back. She is turning out to be such a good traveler. Might be looking good for the plane ride home. We can only hope!!! All in all the day was a very tiring day for everyone. This was okay with me, though, because it gave me the opportunity to just hold Ana and bond with her some more. She is a definite cuddler and loves to snuggle up. When we got back to the hotel, we went to eat at Mama Mia’s, the Italian restaurant in the hotel. Here, Ana tried her first gnocchi and loved it! Girl after my own heart. She tried spaghetti and liked that, too. Guess Nana has to get busy making some sauce.
